This series comprises records generated or retained by The American Lutheran Church's (TALC) first president, the Rev. Fredrik A. Schiotz and pertain to the interdenominational religious organizations the National Council of the Churches of Christ in the USA, (NCCCUSA) and the World Council of Churches (WCC). The records are from 1952-1970 with the bulk dating from 1960-1970. The bulk of the record in this series highlight TALC's initial relationships, approximately its first 10 years, with the two interdenominational organizations. Types of records that comprise this series include business correspondence, news clippings, circular letters, brochures, pamphlets, annual reports, topical reports, minutes and agenda, bulletins, memoranda, reports from conferences attendees, and financial reports. The predominant record type is handwritten and typewritten business correspondence, of which Pastor Schiotz is the principal author. Even though TALC was not a member of NCCCUSA, these records represent TALC's interest in the ministry of the NCCCUSA, as well as several folders of correspondence with TALC congregation members regarding the issue of TALC joining the NCCCUSA. In addition to the correspondence regarding the possibility of TALC membership in NCCCUSA, there are also several folders of correspondence from TALC members also concerned about the church joining the WCC.
